Diana Mosaic is Maj-or Work of Art
By Bella Battle
A close look at this portrait of the Queen shows one woman is still on her mind — the image is made from tiny pictures of Princess Diana. The controversial painting is by Korean artist Kim Dong Yoo, known for his unique celebrity portraits. Kim, 46, painstakingly paints each miniature face by hand to create a patchwork portrait in oil. Previous works include a painting of Marilyn Monroe made up of tiny President Kennedys, and one of the Virgin Mary made up of shots of Madonna. The painting, called Queen Elizabeth II & Diana, is currently on display at the Hasted Kraeutler Gallery in New York.
